The house is located in the village of Saint Dalmas le Selvage, part of the Mercantour National Park in the Southern Alpes.
St Dalmas is a "village classe" nestled in the mountains at the confluence of 2 rivers and surrounded by granite peaks on one side, and verdant slopes on the other www.saintdalmasleselvage.com. Often referred to as 'le village au bout du monde' village at the end of the world because of its location at the very tip of the diverse and beautiful Alpes Maratime at an altitude of 1500m. We are blessed with a balmy Mediterranean climate in the summer and clear blue skies and deep snow in the winter.
Life for the locals is still very traditional. Many are almost self sufficient through growing their own produce, to hunting, fishing and bee keeping. Infact you still see the many shepherds with their herds of goats and sheep passing through the village on a daily basis. The village is famed for its schits stone houses with larch roofs, cobbled streets, sundials and fountains. It is an idyllic retreat to take a step back and relax alongside the opportunity of numerous outdoor pursuits.
